About Rhubarb Fest
This will be the fifth year Rhubarb Fest has been held. Rhubarb Fest is a community festival held in Southwood that reaches out to the surrounding communities and is open to all. We anticipate attendance to be approximately 2000 people at this year’s festival. This is a family friendly event that includes a variety of activities to complement the marketplace aspect. These include: a petting zoo, face painting, kid bouncers, a BBQ, live music, a beer garden, and craft and activity zones.
Our Rhubarb Fest event organizer will connect with all vendors/organizations directly after they register to be part of Rhubarb Fest 2017.
There is no cost to be part of Rhubarb Fest 2017, however all vendors/organizations are responsible to bring their own tent, table and chairs. Tents are optional but can be no larger than 10’x10’.
We will assign each vendor/organization a specific place at the festival, a site map indicating your location will be circulated in advance of the festival by May 19th.
Due to the type of permit we receive from Alberta Health Services, no vendor is permitted to sell food products on site.
Absolutely NO vehicles are permitted to drive onto the site during unloading, set up or tear down, for safety reasons.
There will be a designated loading/unloading section on the road adjacent to the festival site.
Building Permit Inspection
Our Building Permit inspection for the festival will take place at 10:30am on the day of the festival. This means, if you are bringing a 10’x10’ tent/canopy to the festival it will need to be up and properly weighted or secured at the time of the inspection.
Your tent should be 10x10 and properly weighted and secured and meet the fire code requirement. The fire code requirement should be indicated on the tent and is: CAN/ULC S109.
Rhubarb Fest is a Green Event and vendors and organizations are expected to help us meet our goals by using compostable or recyclable materials wherever possible. In 2016 we were able to divert 88% of our waste away from the landfill.
