Gentle Yoga with June Kwak

9:30 - 10:45 aM

Pioneer Room

Tuesday 9:30 - 10:45 am

Winter session: January 8th, 2019 - March 19, 2019

Full session (11 classes):  $100 or 5-class pass: $60

Drop-in fee: $15 or $10 for Southwood Community Association Members ( SCA membership is $15 )

We will use active exercises and yoga poses to develop strength and mobility and improve coordination and proprioception. Passive poses and gentle myofascial release techniques using balls and other props will also be used to bring balance to the body. To extend the benefits of moving well to our everyday lives, we will explore practical movements like walking.

Did you know that by standing with your hip joints directly over knees and ankles greatly improves the weight bearing load to the hips, the type of load needed for healthy bone density? For visuals showing you how to check your alignment, read the “Mind your Pelvis” post at the Nutritious Movement blog by biomechanist, Katy Bowman. If you like what you read there, this yoga class is in part an experiential movement book/blog/podcast club. Reading is optional, you’ll get to experience the movement in class.

Please bring a yoga mat and a curiosity about our amazing bodies. We will move together to a more balanced alignment and learn how movement contributes to our health. Beginners welcome!

Please register for the full session or on a drop-in basis by contacting June Kwak, 403-710-5126 (Texts welcome), June@regroovenating.com
