Planned Southwest Transitway
The City is planning a new bus route that will run from Woodbine to downtown. It will connect directly to Glenmore Landing, Heritage Park, Rockyview Hospital, Mount Royal University, Lincoln Park, Currie Barracks, Marda Loop and downtown.
From The City's website:
The service includes:
- Two new bus-only lanes on 14 Street S.W. between Southland Drive and Glenmore Trail. The lanes will allow buses to bypass traffic and maintain a reliable and efficient service at all times of the day. 14 Street S.W. will continue to operate with the same number of traffic lanes as it does today - space for the new bus lanes will be taken from the boulevards and City-owned land reserved for road widening.
- Shoulder lanes for buses in some sections of Glenmore Trail and Crowchild Trail. These will be used during peak hours only, to allow buses to bypass congestion.
New bus stations will provide transit customers with heated waiting facilities and real-time travel information. Buses will run every 10 minutes in peak hours, and every 15-20 minutes in off-peak hours.
